Is technology making us less happy, less free, less connected?
Life on the Screen
story of a teen
where have you been?
Come, I made your favourite dish.
Status updated- “having fish.”
The screen infront of your eyes,
blurred the vision to see the emotions lying beside.
I see you before I fall asleep,
I wake up with your notification beep.
It’s day or night no longer matters,
when mobile phones became our only partners.
When life shrinks to the size of rectangular screen,
we forget what a picture mean,
which was once the part of album of memories,
where now stick to insta stories.
Sits empty, a once filled chair,
Warm hugs became rare.
More the social media bought us together,
the more we separated from the one’s who cared.
Those round yellow, smiling face,
hide our tears in many ways.
In this rat race of likes and followers,
excluding someone from your life all over,
became as easy as a block button hover.
Drowning into those bright white light,
enchanting our eyes like a golden flask,
wine on the rim but poison inside.
lossing our contact with reality outside.
